Supercondriaque — 7/10

It looks like the somewhat absurdist goofiness of this movie was a great match for my preferences. The protagonist tries to find the right way to reinvent himself, and the hilarious outcomes are spiced up even more by the random encounters. And he’s not alone: while others seem to act reasonably in their bubble, it doesn’t fit the real world as smoothly. All in all, this is a bit overblown but enjoyable French comedy.

Straume (Flow) — 8/10

A great story of a cat trying to survive a catastrophic flood, befriending some other animals along the way. Unlike in many other movies, they are all normal animals: not speaking human language, walking on all fours naturally. Well, they can set some long-term goals, and can steer a boat. Their interaction is a bit more social than in the wild, but this disbelief is easy to suspend. And then you’ll see a great example of using the natural animal behavior to display a full range of emotions, and act a beautiful story. The masterful direction, stunning photography, and fitting music complete the picture. My only gripe is that every footstep of a cat makes a stomp.

Помню мне 14 лет. За окном май. В школе отменили занятия. Я побежал домой. По пути купил большую колу и пиццу. Дома - никого. Родители на работе. Я наелся пиццы, напился колы, включил телек, а там Черепашки ниндзя. Я упал на пол и подумал, что так хорошо мне уже никогда в жизни не будет - так и вышло.
