It’s a common trope that book-based movies distort the story to make it digestible in the new format, and the book fans become upset. Dune 2 has not avoided this fate, apparently. At the same time, my unfamiliar with the canon mind was unable to duly process this movie, so the distortion has been in vain. All I saw was epic pathos, random scenes of sad CGI, and crowds of homeless people wearing Balenciaga.
