Let’s call this genre Dark Disney. It’s a weird mix of a kids’ movie and noir. Taken individually, each part is likely a decent specimen of the genre, but it’s hard to praise acting when there’s a comic relief character hanging around. No surprise I have mixed feeling about the film. Was it intentional? As a tribute to the protagonist’s hairstyle?
