The movie had potential but hasn’t really pulled it off. On one hand, it has lots of tongue-in-cheek meta-humor for the fans who grew up. On the other hand, many elements are rather childish. I know many good examples of kids’ movies with a second layer for adults. Here, the mix is a bit weird, like the uncanny valley. Overall, it’s enjoyable.
